CONCERT HALL MARSTALL

Honi soit qui mal y pense – a fool to think evil about it? A single look at the brief with its demand for an audience of 1800 and a second look at the size of the old building is enough to make you wise: – a camel passing trough the eye of a needle … So, where to place the music hall? Not, after all, in front of the west, the main façade, – the space there so well prepared for a piazza, later on. The narrow strip of land at the east – lets see if the areas claimed in the brief can be put together there, well organized and without functional failures. The plans show the mission accomplished, the model shows that there wouldn’t be a loss of urban space either. And the Marstall, the old Klenze remains, is set free for any kind of pomp and circumstances, for the big terraced foyer, for the interludes and breaks, for the special events beyond the concert routine.
